Can You Get Over Emetophobia Without Therapy?

Happy Women's Day Mi Hermana xoxoxo

How do you get over emetophobia without having to pay for therapy or anything?

Answer from an emetophobia sufferer:

I don’t know that there is a way to get over it without psychotherapy. You need to see a psychologist.

This disorder can cause other problems such as anorexia, and can severely hamper your social life and do a real number on your self esteem. I don’t know what the therapies are for this disorder but you need to get help ASAP.

Often times this disorder stems from abuse as a child, and that would need to be addressed in therapy so that you could learn to let that go. That would help in gaining control of or perhaps even getting rid of the disorder altogether.

I don’t know if you have developed vomiting continence (where you can prevent yourself from vomiting) but if so that is dangerous. Often are bodies need to vomit if we are sick. It is part of the healing process. So that would be bad for you to not vomit.

If you can’t afford therapy, look for someone that does a sliding scale. This means that the therapist/psychologist charges only what you can afford.

Getting treatment is an essential part of emetophobia recovery.

Although your friends and family can help to a great extent, they are not professionally trained and qualified therapists and they will not be able to give you the advice and direction you need to overcome emetophobia.

If price is an issue for you, start thinking about how much emetophobia controls your life. How important is it for you to get control over your life again? Is there anything you could give up or cut back on. Don’t use costs as an excuse to avoid emetophobia treatment.

Emetophobia Therapy – How To Overcome Emetophobia

Emetophobia Therapy – How To Overcome Emetophobia

Don’t worry, don’t stress, there is hope. You can and will overcome emetophobia and permanently rid yourself of your fear of vomiting. It is possible, and I’ll show you how. The first step in curing your fear of vomiting is understanding your condition. Emetophobia is basically the extreme fear of vomiting, seeing other people vomit, or just seeing vomit itself. It can also be an extreme fear of the mere thought of vomit or vomiting, or just reading about it.

As you could probably imagine, this is a very serious condition. And it can ruin your life even. Nobody likes to go through this, not even those people who don’t share the same fear you are facing now. It is just generally very unpleasant. However, like I said before, the good news is, it can be cured. There are various forms of treatment. These include clinical hypnotherapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, anti-emetic medication, and desensitization.

1)      Clinical Hypnotherapy: This procedure involves the use of relaxation and the power of suggestion. Under hypnosis, the patient’s mind will be subjected to positive ideas that can possibly eliminate the patient’s fears, inhibitions, and other mental concerns. Hypnosis also works to lower the anxiety level of the patient, while building his confidence in the process.

2)      Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the process of understanding the thoughts that causes the problem. Psychiatrists performing the therapy session would try to uncover the reasons why the patient became emetophobic. Once determined, all of those reasons and causes will be addressed, along with the patient’s negative behaviors and irrational fears.

3)      Anti-emetic medication: Certain drugs may also be prescribed to individuals suffering from emetophobia. Such drugs are usually referred to as anti-sickness medications and they may reduce the symptoms of the disease. However, they don’t propose a permanent cure for it.

4)      Desensitization: Desentization is the process of slowly exposing a patient to his fear up until he is able to overcome it. In this case, patient will be exposed to vomiting one step at a time. The process may start with words, and then images, and finally, the real thing. This type of treatment can be likened to the process of addressing of the problem head on

I’ve gone through a really bad case of emetophobia myself, so I know how you’re feeling right now and I know how hopeless things can seem. I tried all of the options above over a course of 2 years. Nothing was working for me. I had to get rid of this debilitating fear. It was ruining my life!

The only thing that worked for me, after what has now been over 4 years of trying different forms of treatments in hopes of curing my emetophobia, was the Emetophobia Eraser program. My fear of vomiting was “erased” only one month into the program. The thing I liked most about the program was that it involved a completely natural approach to treating my Emetophobia, and it was very easy to follow – thank god, no more anti-emetics for me!

I have so far been completely cured of my emetophobia for about 17 months now, and couldn’t be happier. I highly, highly recommend Emetophobia Eraser to anyone and everyone who is suffering from this debilitating fear.

I have emetophobia, is there a therapy to help me?

I have emetophobia and it scares the hell out of me. I’m constantly scared of every possibility that I could get sick from.

My fear is so bad that:

  • I can’t eat
  • I can’t sleep
  • I can’t use public transport
  • I find it hard to go to school

Other people think it’s weird or say “oh just do this, it’s so easy” but it’s not that easy for someone with emetophobia.
I’m scared of eating cause I worry that I could get sick. I worry about going out in the cold cause I could get the flu and puke. I’m scared of watching TV in case someone vomits and I see it. I’m terrified of the thought of someone puking.

When I start panicking and feel anxious, I do some of these things:

  • I have a list of people that I call to calm me down,
  • I watch a movie
  • I take a shower
  • I read a calming book
  • I write music
  • I have to remember to breath!!

I don’t really know what all the answers are but I am looking for a therapy for emetophobia to help me and others so I’ll keep in touch.

How To Overcome Emetophobia in Four Steps

How To Overcome Emetophobia in Four Steps

If you would like to learn how to overcome emetophobia naturally, there are a number of steps you can consider. Emetophobia varies enormously how it effects sufferers. For some, it is the fear of being sick themselves whereas for others, it is the fear of others being sick.

Ironically, emetophobes tend to vomit less than the normal population probably due to all the different steps they take to avoid being ill. In addition, it is thought that some develop highly sophisticated control methods to prevent themselves vomiting even when they feel as though they will. However, despite this, the fear of vomiting rules their lives and they will often avoid family and friends who may show signs of illness-including their own family members. Many sufferers also adhere to very restrictive diets free from anything which could possibly cause a stomach upset and will avoid any medication causing nausea as side effect. Some women will even avoid becoming pregnant due to the fear of morning sickness.

For some sufferers, learning how to overcome emetophobia can be as simple as specialization; some programs focus on treating general phobias or panic attacks when really, generalization is no benefit. Identifying the root cause and dealing with it rather than just learning coping strategies is far better.

Some find anti-depression prescription pills useful and for others, therapy sessions can prove to be very useful, particularly those focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

What is clear is that unless treatment is actively sought, emetophobia can completely ruin the lives not only of sufferers, but of other family members.

The condition can last a lifetime, but amazingly can be cured using a tried-and-tested four step technique which will end your anxiety about vomiting INSTANTLY. If you have emetophobia, you’re about to change your life. Please visit the Overcome Emetophobia‘s website.

Emily classes herself as a “former” emetaphobe but knows that the condition will never really “go away”. However, she now successfully manages it and emetophobia no longer dominates her life.
